Croyland 2010
(The Article Follows)
On Saturday 12th. June as is our custom we led a pilgrimage to Crowland to honour the memory of St. Guthlac and to venerate the skull of St. Theodore, bearing the mortal wound inflicted by a Viking sword. The weather was perfect for our open air Divine Liturgy and the numbers attending were significantly larger than previously.
The concelebrants as well as myself were Fr. Dennis, Fr. Samuel (Audley), Fr. Dimitris (Romanian parish, Boston) and Fr. Deacon Ian. We were also pleased to have Fr. Elia with us from Oxford who ably organised the veneration of the relics.
Our thanks to the Anglican priest at Crowland for his warm hospitality and to the driver of our minibus John who got us there and back in safety and comfort. It is always a pleasure to meet with old friends on these occasions and to make the acquaintance of new Orthodox friends.
Hopefully our pilgrimage to Lastingham in September will be equally memorable.
Fr. George
